Our Lab Is Now the Sensory-Perception AX Research Section (감각인지AX연구실)
As of August 2026, our lab has a new name: the Sensory-Perception AX Research Section (감각인지AX연구실), formerly the Human Sensory Augmentation Research Section.
Background
The renaming is part of ETRI’s institute-wide restructuring, which lays the groundwork for ETRI to leap forward as a world-class research institute that grows together with the public — by establishing its role in national intelligence-transformation innovation in line with Korea’s national AI Grand Transformation policy, and by reshaping the organization so that a challenging research spirit can flourish.
Reflecting the national strategy for a technology-driven hyper-innovation economy, including Korea’s leap toward becoming one of the world’s top three AI powers, the sections within the ADX Convergence Research Laboratory have been reorganized to lead the transition to a super-intelligent society built on AX (AI Transformation) and DX (Digital Transformation).
Our Division
Our section belongs to the Human Enhancement & Assistive Technology Research Division (휴먼증강연구본부), which now comprises six sections:

- Human Precision Sensing Research Section (휴먼정밀센싱연구실)

Our Research Focus
Under the new name, the Sensory-Perception AX Research Section continues to pursue:
- Technologies for enhancing human sensory and perceptual capabilities
- Sensory substitution and restoration technologies
- Human-centered AI interaction technologies
- Foundation models for brain and neural signals
The name has changed, but our mission remains the same — extending and enriching human sensory experience with AI.
